The George Washington
The pre-1825 public house in the village, still affectionately known as ‘The Bull’ from its ‘Black Bull’ days.
The George Washington is a village inn, popular with the locals, which offers you a warm welcome and has a good selection of cask ales. We offer a varied selection of home-cooked food and have Bed and Breakfast accommodation available at reasonable rates. The pub has four en-suite rooms which are furnished to a high standard.
Set at the foot of Warton Crag, and handy for Leighton Hall and Leighton Moss Bird Sanctuary, the pub itself has historical connections with George Washington, the first President of the USA. The coastal villages of Silverdale and Arnside are a short drive away and we are only five minutes away from the M6 and Carnforth, the railway town famous for being the film location for the David Lean's classic film 'Brief Encounter'.
Carnforth makes an ideal base for a tour of the immediate area andis a gateway to places further afield such as Lancaster and the Lake District. Families are welcome. Why not come and visit us soon!
